Kim Basinger presterà la sua voce per un progetto che la vede impegnata, insieme a numerosissime star, nella lettura di alcuni romanzi o grandi classici della letteratura mondiale.
 Con l'avvento delle nuove tecnologie, anche i libri in formato audio hanno goduto di una nuova stagione di successi, sopratutto all'estero, grazie alla diffusione dei lettori mp3 e degli e-reader. La compagnia Audible ha annunciato un nuovo progetto che vede il coinvolgimento di molti protagonisti famosi provenienti dal mondo del cinema in grado forse di attirare nuovi lettori e rendere ancora più piacevole l'ascolto per i già numerosi fans del formato.

Gli attori - Dall'inizio del 2012 saranno infatti in produzione una nuova serie di audiolibri letti da attori ed attrici di fama internazionale. La prima lista degli attori di Hollywood che hanno confermato la loro partecipazione al progetto comprende dodici star molto amate dal pubblico e vincitori di prestigiosi premi cinematografici. I primi interpreti sono infatti Colin Firth, Kim Basinger, Anne Hathaway, Dustin Hoffman, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Annette Bening, Jenniffer Connelly, Samuel L. Jackson, Susan Sarandon e Naomi Watts.

I romanzi - Audible ha affidato agli attori una serie di romanzi molto amati tra cui alcuni grandi classici come Mrs. Dalloway di Virginia Woolf, Il mago di Oz di L. Frank Baum o Thérèse Raquin di Émile Zola.

Ecco un'intervista di Kim Basinger rilasciata al settimanale italiano Marie Claire nel Gennaio del 2009...

Scelta confortata dal fatto che i test sulle consumatrici davano un gradimento globale. Bella sì, ma non molto fortunata. Tutte quelle battaglie con l’ex marito Alec Baldwin in fondo la sottraevano alla surrealtà della sua bionditudine patinata per riportarla a terra, tra le mamme single che combattono per i loro figli. Ma il tempo lenisce, i (dis)amori si acquietano e Kim, che dopo un Oscar nel 1997 per L.A. Confidential aveva diradato le apparizioni, è tornata al cinema con film di qualità. A Los Angeles, dove l’abbiamo incontrata, si racconta. Ed è proprio una della sua generazione, sempre giovane (almeno nello spirito) che non si fa problemi a ricominciare e ad aprirsi al nuovo.

Cosa significa invecchiare in modo diverso?
Amo la parola differently perché sembra vendere qualcosa di sbagliato. Tutti cercano di essere grandiosi quando pensano a termini legati ai cosmetici. La diversità, invece, ti rimanda alla semplicità che si è persa. La bellezza , in fondo, è come vivi ogni giorno, le tue scelte, vuol dire ritorno alle cose vere, terra a terra. Che cosa è davvero reale? Quello che ci rende tutti uguali: senso dell’umorismo e fondamenti spirituali. La vita non gira senza. Ecco perché mi piace un’età differente.

This is a summary of what our Kim says....
She thinks the beauty is inside yourself. It's in the way you live your life. She loves every age of her life because they are all differents.
She's shy and her beauty was a probelm for her when she arrived in Hollywood. She says if  you are, as she was, a beautiful girl, all the people look at you just like a nice girl... and no one will regard you for that you are.
She loves the word "differently" because it's refers to the simplicity word.
In Europe we can talk about "Beauty Power", Kim Says. The vanity is a positive thing, She likes to put make up on for the people who she loves. But the beauty is not the most important thing in life.
When you're listed as a sex symbol, you are only seen as sex symbol and people think about you only as femme fatale. Every period had its sexy blonde superstar.
The beauty didn't help Kim with men... but she wants to help all the women and also the strongest one because they all have insecurities and fears. She wants that all women fight for their rights. The people thinks "I've no care, but it's not the true." And we all have those negative voices that we repeat: "You're not worth enough, you're not so sexy ...That's the moment when I feel to better understand other women."
Kim hopes that love is not linked to sacrifice like in The Burning Plain. She has a sisterhood with the women, but she has also felt this feeling with a man, even if the reletionship is now over. It was really deep. She hopes to meet somebody to share that feeling again. Kim says love is free when the people accept themselves as they are without trying to change them.
She's already happy, but she hopes to be in love again.
Kim says her career is changed. Now Ireland is grown up and she always wants to come with her. Before she could not keep Ireland with her, now she can.
She likes to go under the skin of the people and for this reason she choose angry and vulnerable characters...And when she plays this characters she becomes vulnerable.
She says to love the comedy and she's looking for a great comedy.
she's ambitious but not like before. Now she prefers to observ the situation and than to understand what it takes to do. But, she says, without ambition she wouldn't arrived where now she is.
She says that God is her starting point and He's in all the universe.
About Mickey Rourke she says that he's a great actor and she's happy for his new career, but she didn't know that he was in the cast of The Informers and during the film they didn't met.
She doesn't want to talk about the Alec Baldwin's book. She says "every day people write books.. I don't care" And laughs

Finalmente ecco il documentario The Vanishing Birds Of The Amazon (1995)  diretto da Robert L. Draw e trasmesso su Rai Sat col titolo "Amazzonia - Ali Spezzate". Dura 45 minuti ed è molto interessante. Il documentario segue Kim Basinger e Alec Baldwin viaggiare per il Perù, in Amazzonia, per mostrare al mondo intero come, a causa dell'uomo e dell'inquinamento, molte specie di uccelli come i rari e bellissimi Macaws, sono oramai in via di estinzione.

Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger travel to the Peruvian Amazon to find spectacular flocks of Macaws while also discovering that Macaws are endangered by trapping for the pet trade. The birds have already vanished across much of South America, but conservationist Charles Munn and his associates are struggling to halt trapping, preserve habitat and give the Macaws a chance to survive. Broadcast by Audubon-Turner.

Ieri c 'è stata la proiezione del film di Jeta Amata Blak November per celebrare l'ultimo giorno del BLACK HISTORY MONTH. L'evento si è tenuto presso la Library of Congress. Gli ospiti sono arrivati mercoledì sera presso l'edificio Madison per supportare il regista nigeriano accompagnato da Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo, membri del congresso e un pò di attori, tra cui Vivica Fox, Mbong Amata e Enyinna Nwigwe. La serata è stata presentata dal deputato Bobby Rush L. e inoltre  Amnesty International  e il  Congressional Black Caucus, ma è stato l'il pugile e sempre attivo.
 politicamente Don King ad emozionare gli ospitii.
La serata è proseguita al One Lounge dove il cast è la troupe hanno brindato a una serata di successo al centro commerciale.
Black November racconta la vera storia della lotta della comunità del delta del Niger contro il proprio governo e contro una multinazionale del petrolio. Il film è costellato dal premio Oscar Kim Basinger, dal candidato all'Oscar Mickey Rourke, Anne Heche, Sarah Wayne Callies e Vivica Fox.
Alla conclusione del film, i promotori del film ha detto alcune parole sulla gravità della situazione della Nigeria  ringraziato coloro che hanno partecipato nella produzione del film. Dopo la presentazione, il pubblico è stato invitato a One Lounge, per unirsi al cast e la troupe in un brindisi per il completamento e il forte messaggio di Black Novembr.

Last night, the Library of Congress celebrated the final [extra!] day of Black History Month with a powerful screening of Jeta Amata's political film, Black November. Guests arrived Wednesday night to the Madison building to support the Nigerian director along with partner, Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo, members of congress, and a few of the leading actors including Vivica Fox, Mbong Amata and Enyinna Nwigwe. The night was hosted by Congressman Bobby L. Rush (D-Il) in addition to Amnesty International and the Congressional Black Caucus, but it was boxing promoter and the always politically active, Don King, who excited the crowd.
The night continued on to One Lounge as the cast and crew toasted to a successful night on the mall.
Black November recounts the true story of the Niger Delta community’s struggle against their own government and a multi-national oil corporation. The star-studded film features Oscar winner Kim Basinger, Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke, Anne Heche, Sarah Wayne Callies and Vivica Fox.
At the conclusion of the movie, promoters for the film spoke a few words on the severity of Nigeria’s situation and honored and thanked those who participated in Black November‘s production. Following the presentation, the audience was invited to the One Lounge, to join the cast and crew in a toast to the completion and the powerful message of Black November.

Ecco come si esprime Amnesty International sul film: "Amnesty International ha ampiamente documentato come le fuoriuscite tossiche di petrolio greggio dalle operazioni di grandi compagnie petrolifere, come Shell, hanno danneggiato la salute delle persone e devastato i loro mezzi di sussistenza nel Delta del Niger. "BLACK NOVEMBER" porta vividamente alla vita il terribile impatto di inquinamento delle compagnie petrolifere e sottolinea la necessità di ritenere responsabili le compagnie petrolifere responsabili".

Here is what Amnesty International said about the film Black November: "Amnesty International said this about the movie: "Amnesty International has extensively reported how spills of toxic crude oil from the operations of big oil companies, like Shell, have harmed people’s health and devastated their livelihoods in the Niger Delta. “BLACK NOVEMBER” brings vividly to life the terrible impact of oil company pollution and underscores the need to hold accountable the oil companies responsible.”

Finalmente sono riuscito ad avere la parte della 62esima cerimonia degli Oscar (1990) in cui Km Basinger presenta il film L'Attimo Fuggente. Per questo devo ringraziare il mio amico Andrea.
